hi guys,

how is everybody?

before i start, i got this survey from www.mercer.com

it's really cool, it ranks the cities of the world according to the quality of living based on 39 factors (which virtually include everything lol).. u can check the details of the methodology, index... etc on the website above.. i'll just post the top 50 cities in the world here for those who don't feel like visiting the website lol..

as for the middle east and africa.. dubai was the best city in the region with a rank of 77th (way to go dubai bcmf/thmbup.gif ).. but no city from this region could make it to the top 50 (not even THE DUBAI that all arabs brag about sad.gif.. but for the record, dubai looked really good on that survey.. even though it didn't show up on the top 50 list, it scored really well on the infrastructure group of factors.. and it beat south africa's capetown and port elizabeth.. so props to dubai).. but the real sad news is... baghdad came out to be LAAAAAST on the list.. not only the region's list, but the whole world's list bcmf/cry.gif

anyways, i'll leave you with the top 50 now.. ready? GO!

I have seen 14 of the top 50 and I tend to agree with the first few, but later on, some of the cities were horrible.
Dublin is one of the most miserable places I have ever seen.
London is not very pleasant either.
Paris is nicer.
I agree with Vienna.
My top city in Luxembourg. It is one of the hidden gems of Europe and people there do not want to promote it as a tourist destination so that it stays quiet.
I do not feel that Baghdad is really the worst of the lot. It is a beautiful city (after cleaning the mess) and there must be worse places like in Somalia.
I would also be much happier to retire in Dubai than Dublin. Definitely.
Nice read Udaisa

WHAT? and u think the game is over??? and u can walk away like that loool.. noooo no no no... not before u name those 14 cities and arrange them from the best down to the worst (in ur own opinion and don't care what mercer thinks).. oh, and only cities from the top 50 list please =D, thank you

and btw, what i liked the most about this survey is that it takes into account all factors that would interest anyone thinking of relocating.. and it's not a ranking of the best places to visit.. it's about the best places to live in.. maybe some of the cities didnt' appeal to you.. but probably living in one of them would be better than the places u had fun visiting.. which brings me to why they chose baghdad as the worst city in the world to live in

as u said, baghdad is a nice city, it is definitely more beautiful than many of the african cities.. but it's not in anyway safer to live in.. i have paid baghdad a visit recently.. i stayed there for almost 3 weeks.. and let me tell you.. it's really much worse than it looks on the news.. man, i don't wanna upset no one criticizing everything there, cuz i myself get depressed when i remember those 3 weeks.. but let's say that i just agree with the survey

Udaisa
I am unable to comment on which city is best or worse to "LIVE" in, as I have obviously just visited these cities.

My favourites from the list in descending order (as a tourist for a few days) are:
1- LUXEMBOURG, LUXEMBOURG
2- VIENNA, AUSTRIA
3- BRUSSELS, BELGIUM
4- PARIS, FRANCE
5- BERLIN, GERMANY
6- COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
7- MILAN, ITALY
8- HELSINKI, FINLAND
9- STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
10- FRANKFURT, GERMANY
11- HAMBURG, GERMANY
12- DUSSELDORF, GERMANY
13- LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
14- DUBLIN, IRELAND

I highly recommend top 5

If you have a 7 - 14 day time and you want to have the best time in your life (honeymoon for example), there are 3 of the most beautiful cities in the world within a few Kilometers from each other (1 hour by train from one to another):
Vienna.
Budapest.
Prague.

these are my top best 3 cities in the world TO VISIT.

If I have to add other cities in my top favourites, then they will be
Luxembourg
Brussels
Paris
Venice (Italy)
Edinburgh (Scotland)
Fes (Morocco)
Bratislava (Slovakia)
Rio De Janeiro (Brasil)
Dubai.

Do not bother and go to Bangkok. It is ugly.

I have not seen many other very important cities that I have to see before I die:
Cairo
Athens
Rome
Amsterdam
Moscow
Shanghai
Beijing
Hong Kong
Al-Chibayish

Cheers

Mohammed

Simple!
You speak Ingerish my dear. Don't yah?
They all can usually speak English, especially the younger people (up to 35 years old).
Even the French are learning English, although secretly!
They have to
They can not get on the "proper" internet in any language but English.
