Hi there,

the slowliness in the Start up of the PC may be due to many causes like :

1. the version of the Windows not compatible with the features of ur PC like u r using Windows Vista and ur PC is PIII or early PIV .

2. The Boot time may be longer than normal.

3. Improper shutdown that leads to Disk scan.

4. Using of Anti-viruses especially the effective ones like Symantic .

So,you need to know and figure out all these problem before deciding to update.

Regarding the Update :
There is no specific time for update,it's automatical and not manual.you can't know when you will have the update untill the MS corporation tells you.

Goto the Control Panel and press on the Automatic Update, you will have two options: Automatic ( recommended ) and maual , encircle the Automatic one,and then press apply or OK,
after that, if Ur PC needs any updates , you will be notified and press on the notification box and after that , you will be asked to restart to complete the updates, then ur PC will be up-to-date.

Once again, your problem isn't related to updates, but other malfunctions as I listed above.

Ready to serve whenever needed.

Peace for all

Shereen,
thank you for your nice complement.
Regarding the Format,
First , No specific time to do Formating, we usually do it when we have a serious problem like irresectable virus ( kiddin' ) or deletion of one of the system files
that lead to malfunctioning or disturbing in the functionality of the system.

Second , Unfortunately Yes all files on Drive C: will be deleted but Yes you can save any files you have on drive C: before formatting takes place simply by Copy & Paste, except for the programs that had been installed on drive C: they won't work any more untill you re-install them again

Now ; How to do Formatting ??
1. Prepare a good Bootable WinXP CD.
2. Stabilized Power supply ( Stable electricity ).
3. Put the CD into the Drive and do restart.
4. on Boot screen ( the Black screen ) you will have the following : press any key to boot from CD. so you press any key.
5. Now , you will see a blue screen that indicates the initiation of the setup.
6. after loading some files, you will have 4 options tells if you wanna format your drive and what type of formating you want.
7. Choose the Quick format ( without NTF ) .
8. press F,then press Enter, and you will have your Drive formatted.
9. after that you will see that there are files to be copied into ur drive, these files are the Installation files.
10. after copying is finished, you will have a window says" Restart NOW " press on it,or wait for 15 seconds.
11. after that ur PC will restart and the Windows XP logo will appear again, but it doesn't mean that the Installation is finished.
12. Again, a blue screen will appear which indicates that installation is running.
13. Wait and Watch. the whole process takes about 39 minutes
14. May be you will have the Regional setting to be set,i.e the language , and the date,time,etc...
15. You may be asked for the S/N ( serial number ) - some versions don't ask for it- but for insurance write it down.
16. After all that leave the PC and back in about 20-25 minutes.
17. After Completing the installation ur PC will restart.
18. Now remove the CD from the drive .
19. Enjoy your Brand New Windows XP.

P.S: I don't recommend you to do it if it's your first time , let someone do it for you.
cuz malpractice may lead to failure, and u r not equalified to handle with it.
