Dear all,

We are all at least 100 yrs backwards from the modern medicine.
for us we only been taught in Radiology about how to interpretate the X-Ray , but in real medical life we all gonna need to know how to read the CT-scan which is one of the modest modalities nowadays and largely replaced the X-rays in some fields.

So I see its extremely important to know how to read it.For that I'm gonna post periodically some CTs with their illustrations.

Hope you make use of it.

and as a start here is one begin with:

Acute Intracerebral Haemorrage

Well, thanx Dr. The Knight for this topic ..

It not so hard to read a CT-scan or a MRI, you only need simple anatomy & some differentiation between the normal & abnormal colors, & indeed it needs experiance ..

As U know, there are strict indications for the use of CT-scan or MRI ( especially CT-scan because its radiation is as much as U took 170 X-Ray films ), & they are expensive, not only here in Iraq; but all over the world ..

& I think that we are not 100 years backward from modern Medicine; but we are 100 years backward from modern Technology, that's all .. & just wait for the next 20 or 30 years, & there will NO doctors in the developed countries, & there will be machines examine & treat the patients ..
& I thing it is totally WRONG .. bcmf/not talking.gif bcmf/thmbdn.gif

So, we - as the doctors of the future - should examine our patients carefully from the head to the toes or we will be replaced by MACHINES ..

I hope U understand my point of view .. smile.gif

--------------------------------------------------------------------

& for this CT-scan picture, it is little bit unclear ( I have to turn my head to the left side to see it well tongue.gif ) ..
& I think it is not an Intra-Cerebral Haemorrhage .. bcmf/thinking.gif
I this it is an Intra-Cerebral Mass ..
Because, in the Intra-Cerebral Haemorrhage there is always Edema surrounding the Haemorrhage, & I think there is NO Edema ..
& also Acute Intra-Cerebral Haemorrhage does not cause displacement of the lateral ventricles as it is prominant in the picture ..
So, My Dx goes with " Intra-Cerebral Mass " ..

Dear Dr.,
Thank you for your nice comment, and your point of view.
but I think that what you had said about not being heamorrahge and its mass,is not quite true, cuz you must be aware that haemorrhage also cuz slight displacement esp. in severe cases.

anyway,it wasn't of my own creation it was moved from international poll for radiology,so I guess if there is anything wrong with the title then a group of esteemed doctors to be blamed for putting a wrong Dx. and not moi smile.gif

Thanks and God bless You.

Actually Ahmed I agree with you on this point cause it is like almost always there should be edema.

i have different opinion here, if it is large bleeder then you would expect some shifting (think of it, large amount of fluid pushing the brain tissue..why not?)
i will give you that it is not a classical feature but in medicine Never say never and nothing is pure black or white

if i was in a position to diagnose it then i would say acute intracerebral hemorrhage but i agree it is not a classical CT to demonstrate that smile.gif

Hope that helps
Best regards
