Hi everybody,
My name is Sarah Albadry, I'm a student in the fourth grade, I have been a fan of the bcmf for a long time, but this is my first participation.
Recently I entered a bbc world service competion that was concecrned with problems that young people face in the middle east.I wrote a piece about the problems that we ,as students in baghdad, face in times like these including the extensive brain drainage from the university, the difficulties and dangers that both professors and students face, and even the risks of the journey from our houses to the college.
The guys at bbc liked my story and Iwon the competion, and they are now offering me the professional support to put the story on air on bbc world service radio. As the story is about all of us,i want to include you guys and your opinions in the program.
So if you'd like 42 million listeners of bbc world to hear your voice and your story, please send me anything you think is relevant to the subject, wethere texts, audios, videos or anything you think will be useful, and I will pass it on to the bbc producers.
I am in Amman right now,and will be doing the work from here, but i will be very grateful for anything you can send, and for those of you in amman who are interested I can arrange that you will be interviewed by the bbc directly.

I hope that together we can produce a great show, and attract some of the world's attention to our problems.
I will be waiting to hear from you.

This is great, I wish you success.

I'm sure you'll be telling them about the problem of our diplomas, and how we're oppressed in our own country.

I have a personal story about how Iraqis are treated in the airports of other Arabic countries, if you see it interesting and relevant, let me know.

I will publish it on my blog anyway in the few coming days.

Welcome to the family of BCMF, and good luck with your work.

Hey Sarah..

This seems really interesting..
I'm staying in Amman for now.. and I will be glad to help u Sarah smile.gif
I'll send u my email to stay in touch and to see how I can help u..
The least we can do is talking about the problems of our country and let the world know what we're suffering from and that we're not happy with it..
I just hope it's real this time.. not like the last project "Iraq study".. we contacted them and they promised us & then they didn't call for us!!!

Good for u dear,
I wish u all the best smile.gif

Quite impressing Sarah bcmf/thmbup.gif I salute you and wish you get enought time to tell your story on BBC World smile.gif

I'm in Amman too and if there's anything I can do let me know.

Needless to say, there are countless problems and disappointing facts I can write about regarding this subject but here's the latest ones:

- the Jordanian authorities had activated a new policy that will effect Iraqi students willing to study in Jordan, which is that they won't recognize any certificate issued in Iraq as of 2007 (not quite sure which year) because and I hereby quote "they won't be able to verify the authenticity and genuineness of these certificates on account of the messy situation in Iraq"...

-In addition, I've been hearing that UNESCO and the British GMC are considering de-recognizing the Iraqi Medical Schools which if true would deny all Iraqi medical graduates completing their postgraduate studies and training in other countries..

-Moreover, there's a sadly-funny personal account I can mention here just to add some sense of irony to the drama, lately I've been accepted to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland- Medical University of Bahrain (the RCSI opened this campus in 2004) a very good medical school.
And after spending alot of time, effort, and money for the application process and just as I thought that I reached the end of the journey I learnt that I, as an Iraqi citizen, can't get a visa to Bahrain in order to go there and enroll !!!!
And what is killing me is that I have what it takes academically and financially but just because I hold an Iraqi passport I'm simply unacceptable dry.gif

I hope that you could mention these 3 stories to the folks at BBC and if they liked it I would be willing to come and tell them more..

Take care,

Mohammed Hatem
