hey guys smile.gif , check this

U.S. spouses cheat like the French, but feel worse

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Men in South Africa say they cheat instead of taking second or third wives, Americans lament that love has died in their marriages, and the Japanese believe ex-marital sex isn't adultery if they pay for it.

These are just a few of the cultural excuses for cheating on one's spouse as recorded by Pamela Druckerman, author of a new comparative look at infidelity titled "Lust in Translation: The Rules of Infidelity from Tokyo to Tennessee."

While some 6 percent of Americans in one survey said it was acceptable to cheat in some or all circumstances, nearly 40 percent of Russians polled saw no problem with it.

I thought you could often understand a country better by looking at the rules in people's private lives. It really reveals the values of a culture,"

that is very true ...

but there are some paragraphs in which i did not understand what she wanna say
so help please.
QUOTE
Americans have gotten more tolerant on practically every major sexual issue from having a child out of wedlock to divorce ... and homosexuality," she said. "We're more accepting of all these issues except infidelity, where we've gotten stricter."

QUOTE
In particular, Americans seem to adhere to a well-defined script on adultery in which sex outside the marriage amounts to the ultimate act of dishonesty, one that could require years of repentance and therapy to resolve, Druckerman said.

"The message is even a one-night stand can paralyze a marriage," she said. "Then you have this idea in America that you're sort of bursting with this knowledge of the affair and can never be whole until you confess."

so is she saying that it is ok to cheat and do not make a big deal of it huh.gif ?!

that was interesting to know
thanx for sharing

He says that the Americans has become more open-minded and shown acceptance to many sexual issues such as conceiving a child before marriage or homosexuality (and that's quite right BTW being gay in America is verrry OK)
However he says, the Americans are still strict and jusgmental when it comes to infidelity and ex-marrital sex...
He's trying to say to the Americans : since you have become more tolerant to a variety of sexual issues what the hell's wrong with ex-marrital sex ? !!!!!! biggrin.gif

As for the 2nd paragraph, you got it right

I must say those figures are really interesting as well as surprising wink.gif

yeah farah, i think the author is at least kind of ok with cheating, at the end she said that she agreed with the french who cheat and just move on forgetting it happened in contrast to the americans who as she says would feel guilty and tell the partner.

it was funny to know that japanese think it's not cheating if u pay for it biggrin.gif

also i think some countries other than america have more sexual freedom than americans. i heard once that america was the 1st to start the sex revolution but then other countries surpassed it bcmf/whistling.gif

p.s. farah and m7md, it seems we're the only 3 active members these days tongue.gif
