yahoo messenger problem, help

hi guys

i have these problems with yahoo messenger.

1) i can't add people to my list, i always get at the end "your request to add a contact has taken longer than expected to complete". when people add me, i get their requests but when i agree, they're not added and i keep getting the same requests each time i sign in

2) i can't be online to one or a group of people. when i choose that, nothing happens, i.e. i stay online/offline as i were. so i'm either online to all or offline to all

3) Ghayath is telling me to change my avatar but i can't

the computer is otherwise healthy . the problem started few days ago. i tried uninstalling-re installing the messenger but it's the same. please don't tell me i need to format my pc

Hello Hamoodi .. i really feel you man
Here is a couple of ideas :

1- it could be a yahoo related problem .. (chronic God forbid and u have to change ur ID , and im sure its a very far possibility .. or temprory problem and in that case u have to wait till it gets fixed , and u might even accelerate fixation process by contacting yahoo service and give head lines for ur troubles .. i thought that they will not respond ..but they helped me before .. tho it was an automatic reply .. but it worked )

2- it could be a PC related problem .. in that case u might try system restore or even better format your pc which is a relatively easy process (I guess ur worried that u might need to format your pc .. but lets wish that this might fix the problem and u dont have to change ur Yahoo ID )
and if it was a PC problem .. i still dont think its a Virus related so no need to bother !

3- i think one of the PC Addicts in the forum will help u .. Yezen , Kade , M7md , Muhanned .. shoof mino .. or someone else on the forum who had the same trouble before .

PS. to know if its a PC problem for sure .. simply try another yahoo ID on the same pc and check if the same problem occures ..

i think it's a pc thing so i'll try formatting i hate formatting.

Why you guys consider formatting as a solution... I mean formatting is only done when the whole system grows unstable(the Operating System ) not because one program didnt work well...

For the problem I think it could be the internet provider blocking some port msome ISPs do such crazy deeds...
and if it is a software problem tried the latest yahoo versions!!?it may solve the problem.
and another thing like Ghayath said did you try to log from another yahoo ID and tried to add people...It could be yahoo ID specific problem.

I may think of other causes ..but I am supposed having an exam tomorrow :-|

Obviously I sure as hell am a PC addict, as a matter of fact I use my PC for at least 8 hours a day but the thing is I don't know nothing about solving PC-related problems For instance I still don't know how to format !!!!
I just wanted to clarify
