Why we don’t read books (our medical books)

We always search for photocopied lectures & we leave the main books which r used by all other medical colleges(i think)
im asking where the wrong is it from us or our proff. or from our college system
im one of all students that don’t like reading in books "mayjeely nafas" really I don’t know the reason.
Do u thing our study is good
Waiting for ur comments

I really think the problem is in our educational system, our college system...

Only some doctors try to stick to the book, but many others just adore what they say in their lectures and want the exact words of theirs written by students in the exams...
so... naturally... students start to study the lectures, and gradually drift away from the books bcmf/thmbdn.gif

but we should not forget the laziness of ours, since we prefer the lousy lectures!!!

Nice topic bcmf/thmbup.gif

Well Ihab smile.gif...

It is not our faults only...I mean in general we have the right to make success our aim from studying and our exams system encourages us , indirectly of course , to focus on lectures as they are more than enough for success and even having good marks but not learning well sad.gif ...

besides our books condition is pathetic man dry.gif ... not only because they are photocopied but because they are photocopied in a lousy way from old editions bcmf/not talking.gif ....

but if u get to have some good decent editions and u have the spirit to learn well that would be a great experiment ...trust me...smile.gif

hi ehab

i think that the real strong person who do not walk with curreent , if you see that you are right and all the world is wrong, leave the world and go according to your thought so that the reading in medical books is essential ((according to my opinion)) so you must recognize your way

though this is too late answer but i think it's good topic with few answers ...
for me i hate studying in sheets but at the same time & as Yezen said we must think of succeeding ..!
i think it's 99% the prof.'s & the system's fault 'coz there's no medical college in other countries that study like us ..our students most of the time must return one year in other countries 'oz they don't trust our system

p.s.: i also forget the laziness factor as Kadem said!
although i still think if they wanted us to read books we would manage to do so dry.gif

Dear All,

Our educational system is rubbish. I am sorry to say this but medical education in recent 10 yrs has changed dramatically. I have worked with so many medical students here in the UK and have asked them about there curriculum. they don't know about baily and love or davidson's text. all they know about few small lecture notes and simple books.

I finished my MRCS reading only 3 or 4 silly small books, but what helped mastering clinical examinations and mastering clinical judgement.

This is the way how medical students study in this country

what we have in Iraq is just filling our brains with rubbish informations about rare and congenital diseases and overlooked practical side of medicine

we used to spent alot of time attending these boring lectures and at the end of the day all people passed. those who attended and those who didn't

and alhumdullah i haven't attended any single lecture

think about ... and raise your concerns to whom it may concerns

if you need any help I could open channel between you and Iraqi Medical Student at the Imperial Medical school in London

Let me know
