Hi..

It just came to my mind, what makes you interested in reading a lecture?
Or Best

what makes a specific lecture more interesting when you read it??

Stay safe.

for me ..... the lecture becomes interesting when i see it short , written in a nice way,the paragraphs are written in 1. .2. .3 way (points)and of course enriched with good scietific stuff. that is my weird post take it or leave it , thanks for spending time on it.

Hi Noor , well for me , i will b so interested in reading a lecture with nice handwriting ( i see it is better than printing by computer rolleyes.gif ) and with good english i mean without faults in the dictation or grammer !! and i dont mind if they r written in 1 2 3 manner or not , it is the same to me ...

Thanks alot ... bcmf/thmbup.gif

i may add some real simple things that drag my attention when starting reading a lecture... smile.gif

1- the date of the lecture is abit important specially when studying it some times later in exams... i think it helps recalling whether this lecture was attended or not... and remembering some notes might been said there.... wink.gif

2-the handwriting is not necessarily to be so nice...but more important is to be tidy and well read.... bcmf/thmbup.gif

3-i think if there are any references to the books pages -specially in some complicated subjects- shall make the lecture more interesting...

4- i am sure u r away from that Nour, but there are really some silly remarks in lectures that used to kill my mood in a strange way....i don't like those things... bcmf/thmbdn.gif

5-i think this was said in another post....but i think a lecture to be ready one or two days after its date is much more interesting....rather than waiting for days and even weeks sometimes..... bcmf/not talking.gif

sorry for talking too much smile.gif ,hope that this years lectures will be the best..... bcmf/signgoodluck.gif

Kademad- 10-09-2005
an important question..... bcmf/thinking.gif

for me it would be:

smile.gif feeling in good hands when reading the lecture i.e. trusting the writer of the lecture.

smile.gif having the enumeration and the sub-enumeration well written and shown, so I don't get lost.

smile.gif using diagrams within the text, unlike the usual way of putting it at the end of the lec.

smile.gif of course: nice outline, good english (not necessarily perfect), and hmmmm SHORT! biggrin.gif

thanks

Hi all,

First, thank you all for spending your time on reading my post. bcmf/60.gif

And thanx for spending some quality time in answering too.

I am happy that we all share same remarks on lectures, and I will still further want to know the things that can make us all help each other to have better lectures.

1. Siran, you mentioned that you like handwritings more than computer. Well mmm am afraid this might not happen always coz it's really time consuming, but I will like to ask you what type of font you think you prefer???
I personally prefer more formal font that is clear not too bold. So maybe you can help us in the font you feel you are relaxed with more...ofcourse this is for all of us, since all are reading the lectures.

2. For yezen's remark on the date of lectures, sometimes the delay is from the office of photocopy. So maybe we need to talk to Mohammed Sa3ad to ask for lectures to be more ready.

3. I hope you will like my first lec on surgery! bcmf/blush.gif most of what you mentioned I hope you will find it there...it was supposed to be done today, but they will make it ready for tomorrow...

4. I was thinking if we can ask the doctors for specific sites on net that can help us.

5. Another point, do you like to watch CDs to make topics more interesting??

Thanx again...and good luck for all of us. bcmf/power.gif

This is a great topic, I’ll use it to make the lectures I write better.

The most important thing for me in a lecture is like Kadem said is to feel in good hands when reading the lecture i.e. I trust the writers. Also I think good English is necessary. When I read lectures that I don’t trust their writers, I just keep pausing at each piece of information wondering is this really true or not so if I really have wahis, I’ll check it in the books but if not I’ll just read it quickly or not at all.

I just got an idea Nour, why don’t we share writing lectures so that we can write it quickly. And like you said we need to talk to Nawfal to get the lectures photocopied faster.

yezen- 10-09-2005
well guys about the delay thing...i used to write lectures last year and i think the photo copy nawfal and abu mustafa will delay the lecture u give them for not more than one day( in the usual circumstances of course)..and that is bcoz ther are finishing the already delayed ones (of another subjects and writers)...so if lectures are to be delivered to them regularily (day by day) everything shall be well organized smile.gif smile.gif .... and i was referring to writers who writes a page or a half daily and really not taking it seriously then after a week he/she brings it in a horrible way and to be even numbered wrongly bcmf/not talking.gif ...he/she might be a bit execused if we r in exams time but else it is totally his/her responsibilty... mad.gif ...

salam.... smile.gif

Siran- 10-10-2005
Dear Noor , all the fonts r same to me, and if it was time consuming to write the lec by hand , its ok smile.gif , coz i didnt know that the printing is better for the writer ... unsure.gif so i dont mind if it was printing and if the font wasnt too small nor too big , and not bold , that will b better bcmf/thmbup.gif

thanks for considering my openion smile.gif

hi classmates...

4 me i dont prefer the printed lec 2 coz all the pages look the same sometimes & some of the printers use a small font so the page would look like filled of talkin so i just get upset when i c it bcmf/thmbdn.gif

but if u use a good font like Siran said ... with makin the paragraphs seperated from each other ... i mean leave some spaces between the paragraphs even if this would make the lec look bigger ... also usin diffrent fonts & makin the font of the titles bold so our eyes can distinguish it from the explainin of the title which can b regular (not bold) ... & i can give an example 4 this ... it is the surgery lec 2 which was written by Sarah ... it is really good bcmf/thmbup.gif

about the hand written lec ... i prefer the writin group 2 choose some1 with a good hand writin & some1 who is able 2 make an organized lec ... i know it is divided equally on the writin group ... but if 1 of them is with bad hand writin so his role would only be in attendin the lec & write some notes from it & then take the slides from the proff. ... after that he can give the whole lec 2 another member of the group with a good hand writin ... or he can use the printin instead ...

take care ...

Hadeel- 10-11-2005
well 4 me am interested to read only those lectures that i attended them and understood wt the proff. was talking about ...cuz when i will read it i will finish it so fast ....and since such lectures r soooooooo lil in numbre i always have tarakom bcmf/ill.gif

i really dont care of how the lecture is written like the 5a6 or the tarteeb of the lecture since i know wt is going on in the subject but sure i just want it to be perfect and not 2 say that mu7a9'arat el3am 27san bcmf/realmad.gif

Well...
Yezen .....you are the man. I'm totally with you and I support you step by step about the points you've mentioned previously....

In few words I can say that we don't ask for a perfect lecture which is impossible ......but all we are asking for is a good one.

I really didn't read the whole replies but an important note has just came to my mind( sorry if it was mentioned before) which is the personal data that were included heavily our lectures last year like the long lists of thanks and many names that were even not of our colleagues and stuff like that......It would be nice to minimize to minimum.

Thanks a lot for our writers and keep going.

Hey there friends ..
for me .. a cool lecture could be a hand writing or printed lec as long as it has got the factors to make it readable !! biggrin.gif ..
here is a couple of thoughts :

1- nice hand writing is a nice thing if possible .. and large fonts and non-sticky lines in the printed versions .

2- he who writes should fully understand the lec before writing it !

3- major subjects in general are more important to read -like medicine - ... but yet minor sub are more easy to read !! tongue.gif

4- using effects .. like BOLD WORDS , UNDER-LINES , IMAGES , ...etc makes a lecture more interesting .

5- a nice puzzle (lol Yezen) . or some light subject gives u a nice break after reading the lec biggrin.gif

An example that hits my mind is the Surgery lec. by doctor Harith .. -printed by Sara - is a long lecture , but honestly was perfect ... as for previous years , i addored the lectures written by Mani (Mohammed Abdalla) bcmf/thmbup.gif

AwsAdnan- 10-12-2005
Greetings to all....... cool.gif

you seemed to figure out what should be done to make the lecture more interesting ..and i totally agree with you all

but i just wanted to emphasis on what Gayath (my freind) said..

that the writer should be understanding what he's writing to give the phrases his touch if they were vaguely given by the doctor...(not CHIFYAN SHAR) huh.gif

Gayath ....i'm with you man bcmf/thmbup.gif
