Let everybody talk about his/her course so that we have an idea about all the courses. I’ll begin
course: pediatrics
Where: al mansur children hospital, you can get there by passing in the street that takes us to pathology lab but continue forward like you’re going to the “medical group cafeteria” or to the library then at the end of the street (where the mosque is on your left) there’s a gate in front of you and slightly to the right, go there and continue forward until you see some stairs to your left, climb them and that’s the hospital. Hope that’s clear.
What to do: it’s like a medicine course, we take history and examine the patients. The history is the same as for adults but we have 6 additional things that are: history of pregnancy, delivery, postnatal, nutrition, vaccination and development.
The physical examination is the same except some points.
The exam: a long case, they leave you with the patient and you take history and examine but it’s easy, they left us for like an hour and half. Try to write some organized history because they take your papers in the end.
The baby I examined tortured me, he was crying all the time and his abdomen contracted. Then I noticed that if I examine him without looking at him, he’ll be quiet, it’s almost funny because whenever I look, he cries, when I look away, he’s quiet again! Maybe he didn’t like my face.
Your presence will get you 3 marks and the other 7 are for the exam.
One more thing, the 2 groups having this course will be divided into 3 units.
by the way, how do you like my new avatar, it's me when I was a nono
Take care

Hi Mohammed, sorry for my late reply.
Course : Orthopedics.
Where: Shahid adnan hospital. You can ask when you go in for Istisharia...
What to do? Well, nothing! They say there is exam, or evaluation for the group, and it has five marks. But this is a new thing this year, so the doctors are not familiar with it, and they don't practically make an exam for u. I think it depends also which doctor you choose to put your exam in his day, like Dr.Adnan is cool, he's amusing and explains things...and gave us nice marks all...GOod evaluation.
It's not really serious, but it's a prestiege you have to follow this year because of new regulations.
You better put Orthopedics course in last week, (we have five weeks for Ortho, Surgery and Rheumatology), I think it's enough for Ortho one week.
You will learn and see Internal Fixation, External Fixation, X-rays of Arthrodesis, Arthroplasty, you will also learn types of Fractures and see them in X-rays...
It's like General Information in Orthopedics, the more interetsed you are, you will try to read about things you see.
Hope that's ok!?
Stay safe.

well i guess Nour and Mohammed (sewooly a good wahis ) for speaking about this topic...i will tell you about the two courses i finished till now....
COURSE: Dermatology...
WHERE: dermatology outpatient in special nursing hospital ( DAR ELTAMREE9' EL 5A9).. the outpatient is just at the entrance to the right but they send some cases to manage for us to the physiotherapy department in the first floor ...so actually it is in the physiotherapy department...
WHAT TO DO?: well u get to see around 2 to 3 cases /day ...the doctor often asks a student to describe the lesion he/she sees and try to give a diagnosis... (some of the doctor might add u some extra marks on answering sometimes but they weren't so much serious about that )...psoriasis is kinda a frequent case both in the outpatient and in the exam ...
it is important and so useful if u write some notes during the sessions and most important of all is to be very well familiar with the basic terms (the primary and secondary lesions and other terms) as they well help u very much during the course and in the exam...
THE EXAM: 10 points t & f with a penalty...mostly from the doctors speeches and some lectures (according to the doctor examining u)..
one more thing u might consider studying the book specially the basic skin biology but no need to learn everything just the basic things...
WHERE : between the outpatient in the 1st floor and the psychiatry department at the 5th floor...special nursing hospital... WHAT TO DO: well sorry to tell u that this is not a clinical session...most of the time the doctor start talking like he/she does in the lectures...sometimes they DESCRIBE some of the cases...although we saw a couple of interesting cases but we never saw how to deal with them or even how to diagnose them ...I used to be a bit excited about the psychiatry branch but never found alot of interesting things during this course...
EXAM : 20 points t & f with NO PENALTY...and Dr.Wael kept telling us about the 3'yab and how it will reduce our marks but i am not sure if it was counted....u need to study the lectures (3el saree3) and there is a nice melzema might be enough to guarantee u a good mark...
Hope i didn't talk too much and u can use these infos....waiting for u to talk about ur courses...
salam...

Hello, I took two courses since mmm Ortho one.
First, it's Rheumatology Course.
WHere: Dar il Tamreeth, mmm next to Dermatology Department.
What to do: Write all notes and listen carefully to what Doctors say, Try to participate during the Session to be remembered and notices coz they gave us different marks with same abscence and same answers...
Read in Davidson the subjects they give you, they are very obvious, Rheumatoid arthritis, Seronegative diseases, SLE, Back Pain very important, Spondylosis, Spondylolesthesis, Irritation of roots and the pain they cause...these are found in the introduction in Davdison, chapter of Musculoskeleton. Abscence is important in Rheumatology Course.
The EXAM: It's true false, and it depends on your study and on your attention of the notes the doc gives. We may put the MCQ we had in the exam with other groups on site, it would be beneficial perhaps.
This is for Rheumatology Course.

Second Course was Surgery. General, not specific.
Where: Shaheed Adnan Hospital , go to the left, and keep to the left..
What to do: IF you are hardworker, you read in Brow's or the Ghost Malzama of last year the Surgery Topics that are discussed in the session.
You will see most cases are Breast Cases, Sebacious Cyst, little hernia, but you see more cases when you go earlier..
Concentrate on what you see, how to examine, features of the things you see. The abscence can be arranged, coz they don't concentrate on i t much, and sometimes there are no seniors, so it's easier, you might go and leave early, so maybe you can arrange to attend another course, coz really if we had the chance to attend another course, we could have done that..
The EXAM: Now exam is ORAL, NO examination on patient, there will be doctors to examine you, [/B] who is good in examination, asking mostly about thyroid, hernia, breast, such famous topics, and when you're easy going, he's easy going too.
Dr.Abdil Hadi was bit not easy with students and marks, he gave most 2.5 out of 5!!! So try to go for other doctors.
Dr.Tharwat is LOVELY. He gave good marks and is easy going in the exam, asking about the cases you saw, also concentrating on Breast, Thyroid, hernia....when these topics were finished, he asked fourth student about Umbilical Hernia...so just to keep in mind.
Don't forget that in sebacious cyst, the feature you know it's a sebacious cyst is its punctum!!....keep that in mind.
The exam was out of 5. I dont' know if it is with abscence or not.
That's all. We didn't read during the course, only before it.
Dr.Tharwat will ask you what to do with the patient if he comes with hernia, or thyroid, or if she comes with a breast lump, you start from Inspection, palpation, and such. I don't know if I have to say more or not.
Dr. Abdil Al also was not bad, but He asks if a patient comes to your clinic with thyroid for example, how do u manage, You START with HISTORY....always mention History first...he concentrates on it and what its relation with the disease. He asked somoene about fluids given to patient.....so just review fluid therapy, NaCl, Lactose, or Plasma Colloid.
Mmm that's all I"m trying to give and hope it's useful for you....Further questions...please do not hesitate to ask....face to face, or in forum...
take care..
