Dear Dr. Farah,

I'm not quite sure that drugs like Dopaminergic antagonists drugs like Domperidone , cholinergic agonists like Bethanicol are used for gastric emptying but I'm quite sure that these 2 group of drugs enhance the gastric motor activity.

Also we have;

(1) The use of botulinum toxin has been shown to improve stomach emptying and the symptoms of gastroparesis by decreasing the prolonged contractions of the muscle between the stomach and the small intestine (pyloric sphincter). The toxin is injected into the pyloric sphincter

(2) Erythromycin : which is now used in small doses because one of its side effects is increase of gastric motility so its used to improved delayed gastric emptying.

So I guess the drugs that I suggest are : Domperidone , bethanicol , Botulinum Toxin , Erythromycin.

And I hope I'm right so far.

Thank you.

Yes Farah,

I think it's used for urine retention for the same reason it's used for enhancing motor activity...coz mmm let me remember, it's cholinergic agonists?

cholinergic receptors are found in bladder wall...so cholinergic agonists enhance emptying and motor activity of the wall...= VOIDING.

For the stomach, it's probably through cholinergic receptors, nerve supply promoting gastric movement.

The Bethanicol isn't effective by itself but may be due to increase gastric motor activity

If more than 10 then you are the best.

Good Luck.

Dear Fellows,

I say Good to Ahmed for answering 8 out of 20 and ask him to achieve his outstanding work in listing up the whole side effects if he wishes. Thanks again Ahmed.

Returning back to Dr. Farah's Question....
the side effects are divided according to their severity into those which need medical attention which include :

blood in urine
•chest pain or tightness
•dark yellow or brown urine
•fever or sore throat
•pain or difficulty passing urine
•redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth

Hope I got a bingo.

And by the way Dear Hour Glass , Can I add some excitment to your question and ask about the drugs which interact with Omeprasole ??
