Samer Q N- 11-10-2007
A 25 year old male was brought to the neuromedicine consultation clinic by his mother, she describes her son having 'staring attacks', she describes the attack lasting 20-30 seconds during which her son is not responsive and unreactive, the patient describes a lemon smell preceding each incident and the patient does not recall the attacks and he remains confused and drowzy for an hour each time after the attack.

What is the Dx? be specific.

u r right, i wanted to make u think of it as an absence seizure but u nailed the case.

the Lemon Smell is aura to the seizure, it usually results from temporal lobe stimulation.
