hello guys, for anyone in Al-madina hospital, in need ur advise concerning how is the (dawam) there?how many days per month, how many calls, and how many hours...cuz i've graduated this year and iam confused in this subject....

Although I'm not in Al-Madeena but I've asked about their calls and duties and found that it's more than those in other places coz in Al-Madeena you have what is called Senior attachment in which you are obliged to attend more days... some of my colleagues told me that they have about 10 days or less rest per month...

Come on guys...tell young doctors some useful info...

3.يقال والله اعلم انه المقيمين مال المدينة قبولهم بالبورد اسهل او الهم تفضيل عالاخرين لان اللي يسوون المقابله الاورال هم نفسهم السينيرية مال المدينة
4.النظري مالتك كطبيب يصير سولد از روك
5.قريبة عالكلية

المساويء


1.دوام صباحي بيهة يعني اوف قليل وحسب الكورس
2.التعلم العملي قليل لان اكو مقيمين اقدمين فوكاك ياخذون الشغل منك دائما
3.العقوبة قطع راتب 5 ايام مو مثل باقي المستشفيات يوم واحد او يومين
4.مينطوك غرفة بالدار لو تموت لان مقبط فد مرة
5.بباب المعظم يعني بقمة ازدحام بغداد

I'm one of the attendants of the MCTC,and here's what I got for you...

Firstly, what Dr. Zaid said is quiet true, and what Dr. Nabeel said is also true...

Secondly, Get away from it as much as you can...

I finished the pediatrics course as well as the Internal Medicine,and now attending the General surgery.
and from those past 6 months I can tell for sure that this place isn't a good one to work in regardless the advantages.

1. very hostile environment from everyone.
2. no cooperation , or as lil as you can't imagine.
3. No practice of medicine at all I mean clinically, may be theoritically you will hear some issues from time to time.cuz as Dr. Nabeel said the permenants are catching all cases in surgery and in medicine they do nothing but only making orders and finally when you get bingo no one says thanks and when you fail all will blame.
4. The Punishment protocols are so weired and silly,and baseless.
5. The sub-staff are more favoured than you.
6. The admins. are so beyond of logic.

Its true , that this complex has a good reputation but believe me fellows its only reputation merely, and when we contact or pay a visit to our friends in other centers ..... we see how wrong our choice was ( ps : this is my point of view only and not generally ).

We can provide you with a detailed subscription about each floor and each one of the permenants if you like in more detailed way.

Hereunder, I shall give a brief elaboration ...

Medical City Teaching Complex ( MCTC ) - AKA al-Madeena -
is a tertiary centre, one of the biggest centres in Iraq, recognized by many foreign organizations and medical facilities.

We receeive cases from all over the country...

Being an Intern doctor is something so nice,but;
in MCTC is a nightmare by all means for many reasons , from which;
The social life is so aboundant, and everyone of the interns would confirm that.
The daily attendance is a must ( but this depends on the floor you attend and the permenants you work with ).
The Admins. are always with everyone but the intern doctors.
Whatever you do will not be recorded for you.
All your job is to check BP,PR,and temp. which is by the way is the duty of the sub-staff.
The permenants are apparently nice and some are truely nice but they can turn over so fast against you,and they can be so brutals.
In MCTC you have alot of work in following up the patients without a chance to learn anything, while other interns have a great chance to work and present them selves.
You have no chance no be a doctor at all,simply you can't prescribe a drug for a patient unless you take a permissioin even if your call is right,even if the patient is in need,you need authorization first.

am I a doctor ???
you will ask yourself this question over and over,with no answer just your echo.

In Surgery, you have no chance to assist in op. unless the permenants are in exam off. cuz if this facility we have a lot of permenants from all over Iraq,and they are more rightful of the work than the intern doctor.

In other centres, the intern doctor like a senior, he can call his shots and practise medicine and surgery properly.
I know intern doctors now not in MCTC are holding operations by themselves and their permenants are asking them to do it,while here we ask the permenants .

All what you get from MCTC is a temporary self conceit no more no less.
but you will have alot of troubles all the time.

this is in the first year,
the second year is in the Surgical Speciality Hospital - aka al-Shaheed Adnan -
the picture is even worse and you will miss and bless the hell you lived in the first year.

by the way, the second year is only courses of minors which is useless, while other centres you will have the chance to remain or repeat the major courses you like.

This was in brief and sorry for elongation,

Pls feel free to ask about anything and I shall answer as much as I can,and ask specifically as well if you wish.

May be some will agree with me and other won't BUT ....

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE...

ps: Sarah, once you had mentioned al-3ilwiya and Ibn alnafees rotation,this rotation is the best in baghdad and may be the best in Iraq at all.
I highly recommend if any one can have it so be it.Its the best and I wish I went to it in the first place before I moved to MCTC.
