Hello colleagues...I know there was a topic about that some long time ago but i want to highlight it more since now the number of members is multi doubled....i've tried my best to shorten it and since it is very important from my own point of view , i wasn't so successful....

Before reading furthur I just want to ask you -and specially my close friends- not to take anything personal even though they might find what applies perfectly to them ...Now go on...

I am sure whether u r with or against cheating , u've noticed that this "malignant" phenomenon is getting chronic and global among our college society . Cheating among students is a very normal and natural behaviour and specially among
lazy yet ambitious ones like ourselves , but when it gets to develop like it is now ...i am afraid it is something that somebody needs to deal with...

A couple of years ago i used to see cheaters ( or cheating students ) hesitate or think for the last time before using the last weapon or card to use in exams which is cheating...but now ...they r easily and smoothly having it as the most reliable
technique to pass or get the desirable mark they seek ((even though some of them haven't even seen more than 10-20 % of the subjects in which the exams are)) !!!!...and (un)fortunately they often do it...

Of course and , as usual , the professors and the college deanary are to be blame as much as everyone else involved , it is after all their duty to establish the best exam enviroments specially when it is about making new doctors!!...

Now i don't want to the give the "cheating disadvantages on our studying system" speech as it is somehow relative and well known by the cheaters themselves plus they are not why i wrote this HERE...but what really bothers me much is some of those facts:

# The majority of the students - at least apparently - have cheated or are ready to cheat whenever it is possible !! Don't you think that this shall counteract with our future medical careers.

# The dominant question among student regarding cheating is "Why don't u cheat?" rather than being " Why do you cheat?"...

# Some doctors and specifically instructors encourge cheating ..not only that , some - such as this famous one some of you already know - even facilitate and participate in the process ( crime ) !!!!!..I wonder what did he used to do when he was a student.....
# Almost all students -even non cheaters- think of the highly strict professor regarding cheating as a mean brutal person...!!!

I know that some of you think that i am not being realistic and I am just giving philosophical views ...but honestly , it even grows bigger inside me when seeing cheating becoming a life style for some of my friends - whom i do care so much for - in their study , and changing concept from the already unacceptable "cheat when need" to "cheat when can"...

Now for those who don't cheat for a reason or another (because it differs accordingly indeed)...i don't know if u hold such a feeling of satisfaction when receiving a low mark equivalent to ur (not so hard) work rather than having a higher one built within minutes of self esteem lowering and regarding nothing else than a shallow goal named a "mark"...

sorry for being kinda harsh but that's may be because i care...

You are free to comment on the topic but i suggest u try to separate between what u think and what u r adobting ....and to help you gather ideas...try to mention beside ur attitude of the cheating issue...why you choose it ?? do you think u've done the right thing regarding that?..does cheating in exams have some long term consequences as I think...or am I just exagerrating??? and for pro cheaters ..tell us some tales or incidents u've faced... ..

Students cheat for 2 reasons: first, interest because simply cheating gives you higher marks. Second, social ego, cheating has become so wide spread to the degree that cheating has become a way of being cool, cheating is now considered the norm and if you don’t cheat then you’ll be considered selfish and a nerd and so cheating is way of gaining acceptance from other students i.e. to satisfy your social ego.

Some students never cheat because they want to satisfy their individual ego that is they don’t mind walking against the flow just to do what they believe in, they don’t care how other students think of them or maybe they care and get hurt but still they do what they believe in.

I think trying to convince cheaters to quit will not work and the solution to cheating in my opinion is simply more strict observation and penalties to cheaters.

Ok, for me I cheat mainly when I'm clueless about a question or two which happens when u read 60 lectures out of the 61 ones included in the exam and 2 questions out of 10 come from that particular lecture that u didn't read! (this happened with me last year!)

Anyhow, I don't like it when I cheat; the low look that the professors or the observers look at me when they suspect that I'm cheating makes me sick of myself ! so why do I do it then?
It's coz I don't want to be considered selfish! that's the most important thing for me and I think for many others too; it's to avoid the social stigma.
Another reason is to get that extra mark, though honestly saying it never helped that much, and I usually don't trust the source of the cheating and I just take stupid pride in my stupid answers and ignore the info I get!... (this also happened many times!)

Anyhow, I think the solution is to make it clear for ourselves and for others that not cheating isn't a big deal... weird sentence ha?? not-cheating is not bad! well it's becoz as Hammodi said; cheating is unfortunately the norm.

well dear bro ...though i know that u r refering to a single incidence (last year surgery exam ) ...but i kinda found it as an execuse ..and a lousy one indeed ...it is just like saying i didn't cheat even though i had a couple of not heard of questions...is that supposed to make it better ...

but i do admire ur feeling when u r being suspected of cheating or something...coz believe me some of our friends weirdly enjoy those moments...

now i don't know why others didn't reply ...guys i know this topic was kinda against cheating ...but even if u do cheat just give us ur point of view...who knows u might gain new members ....

few words were said by our Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) ... " man 3'ashanna fa lays minna " ...
we all know them so well ... but unfortunately when those who cheat say it , they do it in an ironic way !!! ... ... while it has a great meaning if we just think about it ... !

some of cheaters admit that they r doin somethin wrong ... but they just think that they will quit doin it after finishin all kinds of exams & then they will b free from any cheatin & continue their life in a clean way ... BUT ... HEY WAIT ... did u think b4 that the marks u got r gonna b documented with ur CV & they will affect ur future career ... so just think like this ... u will get a wonderful job based on ur marks u took in college which came by the help of ur dear " CHEATIN " ... & ur whole life will b based on ur dear " CHEATIN " ... ... !

so the q my freind ... do u accept such a life 2 urself ?

Well i think a student will have few chances to cheat in the in his/her college life , he/she cant cheat from the first year till the sixth in every single subject , so he/she may have good marks in one or 2 subjects or may b a little more , so there will b no fake whole marks , dont worry ......

And about me , honestly , i used to get some informations from students sitting near to me in exam if i really needed that and had a chance , and i didnt get a whole question from anyone in all my life , coz this is so hard to do , and lately i gave up to take anything from anyone coz as i realized im cleaning the right answers to write the wrong ones , but if i had no idea about a question and if i was hardly passing this subject , then i will ask for a help ,in the same time, i used to give any info or clue to anyone asking me , coz i want to help people specially students who were ill and couldnt read or fell in a bad situation ..... and i really cant say NO IM SORRY I CANT TELL U WUT IS THE RIGHT ANSWER to anyone asking a help from me

So it is not a disaster to give some info to people to help them to memorize the question or lead them how to answer ,i see it as a way to help them .......


but lately , i heard some students taking the WHOLE answers from any clever student sitting near them , and as a result their marks will b so high , but again , this is in few subjects not all , so we cant say that all of their marks will b fake , coz i dont think anyone can cheat in every single subject even if he/she could , in few questions or branches , right ?

you're right .. cheating is not right ..
but ... sometimes ... you just need a hint .. to remember the question . and i see that okay with me !
i give hints , i give some answers .. and i would like the same to me ..
i don't think it's something sooo wrong , as siran said we cheat in alot of things in our lives (small cheats ) and those it's normal .. just like the exams. cheating !

i don't wanna encourage some students who doesn't read like good students .. and wanna cheat all the times ! ... this is not good at all and not acceptible

Dear Yezen, I didn’t say only for that, it’s one of the reasons.

People have different motives, one of the them that was recognized by psychology and sociology as a universal strong motive is the ego. Animals want nothing more than food and sleep and such basic needs, the human not only wants those things but he wants also to be looked up to in his society, he wants people to respect him and he wants his position to rise in the society, he wants people to admire him and so humans most of the time do the things that will make their surrounding people respect them, ironically cheating is now one of the ways to gain acceptance and to gain a better social position among other students.

I hope you get the idea.

Hi .... I liked to participate with a single statement that I strongly belive in , it says
" Cheaters never win , Winners never cheat " ...
though I guess that some exceptions could be made......

hammodi dear..i understood ur theory but i was wondering if it is applied on anyone u know coz i don't think so....

well Tina..that's great ..but i think we shouldn't owe everything to religion or customs..beleive me - and as u said - i know alot of religious students that are pro cheaters ..and they just beleive it in their own way...plus i my self don't cheat not because it is 7aram ..iut is just a matter of reason before being 7aram...

well siran ...believe me ..i know there is not the WHOLE faked marks...but there are some really really high percentages ....

maaan ..what a justification ...i am just imagining now a couple of years following this rule where shall lead us...

my friends told me that i was so aggressive & tough in my reply ...

so i wanna say i am sorry if i sounded like that ... but i wanted 2 make a change ... & in order 2 make such a big change , we have 2 use statements 2 leave an impression ... while bein tough was not in my intentions at all ...

when u read my reply u may think that i dont cheat ... well ... honestly ... when some1 asks me 2 give him/her some help durin the exam ... i just give it & dont hesistate ... coz i know their circumstances & i know they study hard ... or if they didnt study 4 it , then i know they had somethin prevented them from it ... & then after the exam they can just go back & study what they missed b4 the exam ...

while 4 me ... i took help like about 3 times in minor branches of a main q ... besides i am not good in cheatin ... i can b caught easily ... lol

but still ... try 2 avoid cheatin as possible as u can ... believe me ... when u get a mark made all by urself then u will feel much much better about urself ...

yet the highlites are good it shows your concern


but it seems you shy or afraid to completely disclose your opinion because it touches about 99.999999% of our collegues


well frankly (((((don't take it personal)))) it's a shameful habit


and i don't put the blame completly on students but our collegue system as always concentraits on the problem and never moves an inch to solve it

they give the green light for us to cheat because they don't punish the cheaters
