Samer Q N- 11-20-2007
Ok, this one was asked by one of the Seniors during the short case exam of last year's Finals:

What is the characteristic blood film finding that occur in uremic patients?

Look hard for this one.

another question about the renal system is:

What are the causes of chronic renal failure with normal sized kidneys on ultrasound.

well hi samer for question no 1 i think normochromic normocytic anemia uless complicated with iron def anemia then he become hypochromic microcytic anemia

and concerning the 2nd question ins the same answer of cytotxic but i may say these causes may cause slightly enlarged kidney but ulimaly at the end it will become small size kidney

i do not know but i thought it will be microcytic hypochromic but i'm not sure.

hi every one ,
for the first question there will be normochromic normcytic anemia , and if there is bleeding there will be hypochoromic microcytic anemia

for the 2nd question : others have answered
mr cytotoxic : polycyctic kidney are large kidneys

Samer Q N- 11-27-2007
Hey guys good job,

but about the characteristic blood film the senior wanted the burr cell, when i looked it up it seems that it occurs in many other disorders so it occurs in Uremia but its not characteristic biggrin.gif

about the normal sized kidney with renal failure u guys got it, but there is also leukemic infiltration and lymphoma and HIV nephropathy.

I dont know about helmet cell, could someone look it up please?

sufyan- 12-06-2007
