a project, we need YOU

I have this idea to help senior citizens in a nursing home. We can organize their gardens, now they’re filled with weeds so we can remove these and plant grass to organize a beautiful garden.

And our mere visit and talking to the elderly will bring great joy to them. We can also bring them gifts later, for example if one of them likes reading, we’ll get him/her a book or whatever their hobbies are, we’ll help them.

These people feel abandoned by their families and by their society and just imagine what kind of joy you’ll be bringing to them with this project.
We need volunteers and small funds to carry out this project so if you’re interested please tell us to count you in, any kind of help is very much welcomed.

As for the timing of the project, I don’t know, do you think it’s better to start as soon as we’re ready and visit the nursing home each weekend or we can start the project at the midyear vacation.

u know,once when i was living with my family in England (i spent my childhood in england for 6 years with my family)so,i was in thie primary school there and one day our teacher told us that we a going to make some sort of MASRAHIYA about the Profet Jesus,and some kind of nice songs and present it for a group od old people living together in one house,so we went there and u can't imagine how happy they all were and also we felt happy for sharing them their happiness and joy,also we took some food for them.So i would be happy to do such thing here in iraq but its also concerning with timimg,i really wished if we had started such project during the past holiday,coz maybe (as i'm a graduated student now)i'll be busy in ur midyear holiday as if i start rotation i may have no more holidays

BUT be sure that if u start such nice thing inshalla and i have time ,i'll be with u all...

I went today to the ministry of social affairs and I made an official request to carry out our project (we can’t just go to the nursing home, we have to get this permission first). The secretary told me to call them on Sunday to see whether the deputy minister will approve or not.

After we get the permission we’ll have to work on funding our project, we’ll need funds for the transportation (the nursing home is kind of far), buying the grass, hiring a gardener (maybe, if needed), buying some snacks for us and also for the books and other stuff that we might buy to the senior citizens. We must calculate exactly how much money we need but we’ll do that after the permission Inshallah.

After the fundraising is complete, we set a proper final date to go to the nursing home.

I just want to thank you all and anyone who will participate in this project so much, sooooooooo much, you’re the best.

Today I went to the ministry of social affairs again and we have the permission, I just have to go one more time 2 days later to get the written permission.

Now we need to discuss and start fundraising and like Neo has said we need to make a preliminary visit to the nursing home to see the people in charge there and the senior citizens too, also to see the gardens (to know how much grass we’ll need) and to know how much will it cost to get there (transportation). I know most of the volunteers personally so it’s no problem to meet and talk except for Oldschool rocker, Lavie and Hind, and Hind we can talk to her sister who’s with us. So Oldschool rocker and Lavie we need to meet in college.
