I think the rip in the middle of the car would have taken all the impact energy away from the surviving half of the car.

In my opinion, if the driver was wearing a seat belt, then he/she could have walked out of the crash with no significant injuries.

The driver compartment seems to be intact and completely unscathed.

The good thing about modern cars is that they crumple.

Crumple means that the metal is made weak on purpose.

If you are walking into a wall, do you want to have a hard solid metal plate worn in front of your face or do you want something that is soft and fragile like a piece of soft bread ?

I would wear a piece of bread on my face any day.
