Hi everybody,
First of all, I'm sorry becasue I don't have arabic letters in my keyboard at the moment..
Secondly, to answer your question Dr., I consider taking either one or both of those exams something vital for to make a brilliant career in Medicine.. But, by this I don't mean working and living abroad for good. It means getting a degree (MRCP in UK, or the the American Board) which cannot be achieved only if you take one of the exams you mentioned, after that, I hope to get back home and settle permanently.
Regarding the PLAB and the USMLE, I have loads of information about those exams but I will try to brief as much as possible:
PLAB: A test that's taken in the UK to get a UK degree equivalent to the MBChB... Check out this link for much more info: PLAB Topic
USMLE: A test composed of 3 parts, the first 2 can be taken in many USMLE testing centres worldwide and 3rd one should be taken in the US. It enables any non-US medicine graduate to enter the US medical system for work, getting a higher degree, or both....
I hope that was helpful enough
Take care

Dear friends,
Thank you for your reply. Sadly to say, these exams are not the door to heaven any more for the International Medical Graduate (IMG).
I have done the Plab test and passed all the steps from the first attempt and stayed in the UK for few months applying for jobs without any success.
Many of my colleagues didn't leave the UK after their visa ended and they asked for asylum (refugees). By doing this they have committed a career suicide as they will not be able to practice medicine until they are granted the refugee status, a process that may take years.
The visa for IMG in the UK has changed and now you can not get a job except in one case, when no UK or EU doctor apply for it, which is impossible.
The USMLE also has many difficulties in getting a visa to enter the USA especially for Iraqis, so it is also not a good choice.
What I want to say is that from this moment, you should try to explore other choices like the Australian exam or the Canadian or Irish exam.
There is at least still some hope for training in these countries.
Wish you all the best.

It's a dillema...
Thanks for the info.

Hi,
Dear Dr.Yasir, my uncle have done the PLAB in the UK and then kept applying for a job for about 7 months before getting a training job..So it is undoubtful that PLAB won't help us unless applying for asylum which is a suicide as you have described it....
Now there is a new route (of cousre discovered by Iraqis ), which is to go to the Republic Of Ireland after graduation, and they will make you repeat the last year of Medical School (the 5th year there) and then you will be treated as am Irish-graduate...
Take Care
